Book Editor wanted – come work with us at Momentum!

December 8, 2015 by

Momentum, the digital-first publishing imprint of Pan Macmillan Australia, currently has an opening for an editor to join the Sydney office.

This is a busy and varied role and will require someone who can be both a team player and work independently when the need arises. Primary responsibilities are project editing our titles to meet demanding deadlines and managing the editorial needs of our wonderful stable of authors. Workload also includes working with digital typesetting software, so an understanding of ebook files (including fundamentals of CSS and HTML) is a plus. Knowledge of Australian and US spelling and style and experience with MS Word, Adobe Acrobat and Filemaker Pro are also desirable.

The successful applicant should have an interest in genre fiction, particularly romance, thrillers, crime, science fiction and fantasy.

Please send a CV and cover letter to Joel Naoum at

Applications will close on Wednesday, 16 December 2015.

    Hello, there:

I hope you are doing fine and everything running smoothly for you. I have one quick question: this position is only available for people living in the Sidney area, right?

I imagine this post is a test? OK, to edit with a light touch –

I hope you are doing well and everything is running smoothly for you. I have one quick question – is this position only available for people living in the Sydney area?

If it’s not, I’d also be curious as to whether it’s Sydney only and what the salary range is.

      • Hi, yes the position is only available to people in Sydney.

But but but but, don’t momentum follow a digital first approach, so telecommute would be fine (he writes with fingers crossed) right?

          • I’m afraid not for employees. Only for our books!

          • Gus

            I could be this guy

      • Txabier Etxeberri

No it wasn’t. It was a real question, typed over the smartphone as I was telecommuting at the time.

But thank you for the style check.
